Sebastián Buitrago Gutiérrez

Wildlife Biologist

Sebastián is a biologist originally from Colombia, where he conducted his undergraduate studies and developed his passion for wildlife, inspired by the immense natural richness of his country. He came to Canada in 2022 to pursue a master's degree in conservation biology at the University of Alberta. His research was centred on the migration and diet of the Ronald Lake Bison Herd, a population he has been devoted to ever since. Sebastian now works as our lead wildlife biologist, and some of his tasks include remote wilderness research, data organization and analysis, study design and grant writing. When not in the field or looking at camera-trap pictures, he enjoys staying active and spending time with his friends and family.

Garrett Rawleigh

Wildlife Biologist

Garrett Rawleigh is a wildlife biologist who grew up in southern Alberta before moving north to Camrose. There he studied environmental sciences for his bachelor degree. He then started his studies on the Ronald Lake Bison Herd, first as a master’s student and now as a PhD candidate at the University of Alberta. His work is focused on wood bison foraging behaviour and how the Ronald Lake herd interacts with the wetlands within their range in northeastern Alberta. Garrett has been part of Ecologix Solutions from the start, working as a consulting wildlife biologist, involved in fieldwork, grant writing, study design and data organization and analysis.
